Cleaning estimates, part by part
"Clean the house" means something different to every client. A cleaning estimate turns it into a list both of you can check: which rooms, how deep, and what is extra. That list keeps your price clear when the client walks you to a garage you did not see on the walkthrough.
Start with your business name and contact details, then the client's name, the address, the date and an estimate number.
Name the type of clean: standard, deep, move-out, post-construction or office. Then the rooms or areas and their size, such as "3 bed, 2 bath, about 1,800 sq ft" or "office suite, 12 desks, 2 restrooms". Write what is included in plain words, and just as important, what is not: inside cabinets, walls, exterior windows.
Price add-ons on separate lines: inside the oven, inside the fridge, interior windows, carpet cleaning, laundry. Clients can tick what they want, and the base price stays easy to compare with other quotes.
For bigger jobs, show good, better and best options, for example a standard clean, a deep clean, and a deep clean with add-ons, each priced in full, with the one you recommend marked. Below that, add sales tax where cleaning services are taxable, the total, any deposit, a valid-until date, your cancellation and access terms, and a signature block.

Is a cleaning estimate the same as a quote or a bid?
Often the words are used the same way. An estimate is usually your expected price, a quote a firmer price for a set scope, and a bid a price submitted against other cleaning companies, common for commercial and janitorial work. Whatever you call it, list exactly what the price covers.
How long should a cleaning estimate be valid?

Should I ask for a deposit on a cleaning estimate?
That is your call. Some cleaners take one to hold a date for a large move-out or post-construction clean. If you do, put the amount and how to pay it on the estimate so it is agreed at signing. Some states limit how much a contractor can ask for as a down payment, so check your state's rules before you set one.
Can my client sign the cleaning estimate online?
