Filling it in for a plumbing job

  • Add your business and your customer. Type your business name, then the customer's name, their mobile or email, and the job address.
  • List the job line by line at your own prices. Write it the way you'd explain it in the kitchen: "Replace vented cylinder with unvented cylinder", "New pipework to boiler", "Remove old cylinder and tank from loft". Add labour as a fixed price or hours. Not sure of one? Leave it empty: it shows Needs price and can't go out at zero.
  • Tap Send to customer and sign up. Nothing to type again. Your customer accepts the quote online and pays any deposit straight to you.

The example plumbing lines are marked Sample price. Keep them or replace them with your own before anything is sent.

What your customer sees

The preview shows what your customer gets. Download PDF gives you a printable A4 copy. On their phone they see your business name, each line of the job with your price, VAT, the total, and a deposit if you turned one on. Then they accept and sign. Someone with water coming through the ceiling can read it and say yes before you've finished packing up.

The deposit switch is off until you turn it on. It can help on bathroom refits or cylinder swaps where you buy materials first. You choose how customers pay you, by payment link or bank transfer, after you sign up.

Tips for plumbing pricing

  • Separate the call-out from the fix. If you charge a call-out, give it its own line so the repair price stays clear.
  • Name parts in plain English. "Thermostatic radiator valve" means more to a customer than a part number.
  • Say what's not included. Making good plaster or tiling after access is the classic argument. Put it in the line name, such as "Lift floor to reach pipe (making good not included)".
  • Cover what you can't see. Tell the customer how you'll price hidden problems before they accept, not once the boards are up.
  • Mind the valid-until date. Cylinder and sanitaryware prices move. The maker puts a valid-until date on the quote, so an old price can't come back to you.

Questions

Is the plumbing quote maker free?

Yes. Fill in a plumbing quote and download it as a PDF without signing up or entering an email. To send it to a customer to accept, you create an account at that step. No card is needed to start.

Can I write the quote on my phone at the job?

Yes. The maker works in your phone's browser. On a small screen you see the preview first and tap Edit to add the lines. Your work is saved in the browser, so you can pop back to the van and carry on.

How does VAT show on the quote?

Quotes on the UK maker are in pounds. Add your VAT rate and the preview shows the VAT line and the total your customer pays. Not VAT-registered? Leave the rate at 0.

Can my customer accept the plumbing quote online?

Yes. You send it as a link by text or email. Your customer opens the quote on their phone, checks the lines and total, and accepts and signs it there. They don't need an app or an account.

What if I find a problem once the floor's up?

Tell the customer before you send it that floors can hide problems, such as corroded pipework, and how you'd price them. If you find one, agree the extra in writing before you do the work.
