Tree surgery quotes, part by part
Customers ringing about a tree often don't know what they're asking for. Do they want it reduced or felled? Is the stump included? Who takes the logs away? A clear quote answers those questions before the crew arrives. Citizens Advice tells customers a written quote should give a fixed total, break down the work, say how long the price is valid and whether VAT is included, and explain when the price could go up.
Start with your business name, address and contact details, and your VAT number if you're registered. Then the customer's name, the property address, the date and a quote number.
Describe each tree so there's no doubt which one you mean: "Sycamore, approx. 15 m, rear garden, overhanging neighbour's boundary." Then the work for that tree, in plain English: fell to ground level, crown reduction by a stated amount, crown lift, or deadwooding. If you need to dismantle in sections or close off the drive, say so on the line.
Price stump grinding separately, as many customers assume it's included when it isn't. Then waste removal: chip and remove everything, or cut to logs and leave them stacked on site.
Tree work suits options: reduce or fell, or felling with and without stump grinding, each priced in full, with your recommendation marked.
Then VAT (inc. or exc.), the total, any deposit, a valid-until date, and a line on who checks with the council for a tree preservation order or conservation area, and who applies for consent or gives notice if needed. Finish with an acceptance box.
If the tree overhangs a neighbour, say on the quote whether the price includes the neighbour-side branches and who will speak to them about access.
