Filling it in for a fence job

  • Add your business and your customer. Type your business name, then the customer's name, their cell or email, and the property address.
  • List the job line by line at your own prices. Start with the run, then the parts: "6 ft cedar privacy fence (per linear ft)", "Corner and end posts, set in concrete", "4 ft walk gate with hardware", "Remove and haul away old chain link". Not sure of one? Leave it empty: it shows Needs price and can't go out at zero.
  • Tap Send to customer and sign up. Nothing to type again. Your customer gets the estimate as a link, signs online and pays any deposit straight to you.

The example fence lines are marked Sample price. Keep them or set your own before anything is sent.

What your customer sees

The preview shows what your customer gets. Download PDF gives you a printable copy. On their phone they see your business name, the fence run and each gate with your price, the tax line, the total, and a deposit if you turned one on. Then a place to sign. A homeowner standing in the yard with you can read it and sign before you've rolled up the tape.

The deposit switch is off until you turn it on. It can help when you order lumber, vinyl panels or a custom gate first. You choose how customers pay you after you sign up.

Tips for fence pricing

  • Lead with length, height and style. They are what customers compare first. Put them in the line name.
  • Price gates separately. Gates vary more than the run; a line per gate keeps the per-foot price honest.
  • Show tear-out. Removal and haul-away of the old fence is a common surprise. List it.
  • Say who checks the line. Note that the customer confirms the property line and any HOA or permit rules before you set posts.
  • Plan for rock and roots. Tell the customer before they sign how you'll price hard digging, and agree any extra in writing.

Questions

Is the fence estimate maker free?

Yes. Fill in a fence estimate and download it as a PDF without signing up or giving an email. To send it to a customer for signature, you create an account at that step. No card is needed to start.

How do I price a fence by the linear foot?

Enter the linear feet as the quantity and your price per foot as the price, and put the height and style in the line name, such as "6 ft cedar privacy fence (per linear ft)". Price each gate on its own line.

Should removing the old fence be a separate line?

Yes. Tear-out and haul-away is real work, and customers comparing bids want to see whether it's included. A separate line answers that.

Can my customer sign the fence estimate online?

Yes. You send it as a link by text or email. Your customer opens the estimate on their phone, checks the lines and total, and signs it there. They don't need an app or an account.

Can I show wood and vinyl side by side?

This maker builds one option per estimate. To show two or three materials side by side, download the fence estimate template, which has room for options.
